Master of What?!
Every athletic in the world must train to be the fastest and the strongest. Every chef and every doctor train to excel in their field. When you start a new job, they always send you to training first. Not one master ever woke up to being a master. It is the training to improve and achieve more than they did the day before.
Largely, people don’t know you have to be trained to be a good husband or wife. Parenthood is chaotic but there is still training in those storms. If you believe you don’t need training, well you are not be realistic. Having a parent, whether good or bad, is training to being a parent. Watching married couples, whether good or bad, is training on being married.
Well, I will be starting my own personal training of being a Proverbs 31 Woman. This is the ideal woman for a righteous man. When I say this woman is a phenomenal, you have to read Proverbs 31:10-31
10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. 12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. 13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. 14 She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar. 15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. 16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. 17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. 18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. 19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. 20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. 21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. 22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. 23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. 25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. 26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. 27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. 28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. 29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. 30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
I mean this woman is Superwoman. I know I can’t do all of this at the present time. My mother can sew her tail off but I suck at it. Planting a vineyard? You are joking, right? We not even going to start on the “busy all day” thing. My strength is feeble and my mouth can be just as reckless as ruthless. Now I don’t dwell on my shortcomings most the time but, to please The Most High is my goal. Time to make everything taller.
Characteristics of a Proverbs 31 Woman
Without doing a bible study, you can see this woman has some very desirable traits. This Yah fearing kind woman is a trustworthy help mate who keeps her family and home running smoothly. Her work extends to helping the needy and running a business. She brings praise to her husband and leaves the gossip out of her mouth because she is to busy prepping for the future or gardening to feed her household.
The women of the 40’s and 50’s are the domestic home managers who come to mind. They were hardworking beautifully dressed women who graced this earth. Elmira Williams, my Glamma, was this type of woman. She never left the house looking like some of them Walmart shoppers. She raised 7 seven children and never work at any man’s job. Nana and Papa’s house was the best, with the home-cooked meals and gardening. No one could cut the lawn with the diamond pattern like her. You didn’t leave dishes in her sink and you always used coasters outside the kitchen. I miss her and her ways so much.
My Final Thoughs
I find myself wishing idleness was not such a constant for me. Blogging helps keep me from being a the horrible gossiper I used to be. You see, my husband and I live with a family member. Our world comes down to one small bedroom. Cleaning it is a breeze and I dont have to cook often because my lord husband bring food home from work.
So to get myself more in line with the Proverbs 31 woman, I am going to do a checklist of skills and attributes that I need to develop as a virtuous wife. No matter how small or large the scale is, these things need to be accomplished. YAHUAH, help me.
